Motivation

If I said this once then I said this a thousand times. If you want to be a successful at your craft then you must first get up and get going. I've had directors come to me and ask questions what do I need to do to motivate my staff?First you have to look at the root of the problem at hand. I've had learned in the past that you cannot "motivate" anyone. They have to motivate themselves. I remember a quote from one of the football players for New England. He said "I don't need motivation, motivation is for kindergartners." As adults, you should want to be successful and noone should have to motivate you. As directors and owners at times you may suggest that if an employee make a certain percentage they will recieve a quartely bonus or if a employee gets a certificate they will recieve a raise. So many times owners/directors have told themselves that if I do this then they will do that. Sometimes it works other times it don't. Is it because the employee is lazy or not "motivated?" It just depends. I've learned in my 33years of life that when you want to better yourself you will do it. And nobody should have to motivate anyone to do what's best for them.
